MUSHROOMS [lion's mane]

Revered for centuries, Lion's Mane has been used in traditional Chinese medicine across Asia and was enjoyed as a delicacy in Medieval Europe. In Brazil, the natives call it the "Mushroom of the Gods." Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a remarkable fungus that flourishes on arboreal hosts and boasts elongated, mane-like tendrils.

Backed by Science

Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) contains distinct bioactive compounds found in both the fruiting body (hericenones) and mycelium (erinacines), which have been shown to stimulate the synthesis of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF)—a molecule essential for the growth and maintenance of neurons [1]. This neurotrophic activity underpins its cognitive-enhancing and neuroprotective potential. Research suggests that polysaccharides in Lion’s Mane may exert antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects, while also supporting neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity—mechanisms vital to memory, learning, and emotional regulation [2]. Lion’s Mane has also demonstrated promise in improving mild cognitive impairment and may reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, potentially through modulation of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) and gut-brain axis signaling [3]. Its adaptogenic and fatigue-reducing properties make it valuable for individuals under chronic stress or cognitive strain.
